Media Short Courses

CIT's dynamic media and film courses will give you everything you need to enter the fields of screen and media, film, digital media or to enhance your existing skills in professional communications or journalism.

In these short courses you will learn using industry-standard software and equipment in custom-built facilities including a Mac computer lab and TV studio. You will learn from highly respected and experienced teachers with strong networks in the local media and communications industry, and you will enjoy a high degree of practical experience as well as theory.


Statement of Attainment in Film Festival Production

Over eight weeks of face-to-face classes, you will dive into basic camerawork, lighting, editing and storyboards. You will learn about the importance of storyboards and scripting when preparing a movie, and workshop storytelling. You will pitch your scripts for production, and the chosen script(s) have the chance to make it as an entry for a local or national film festival!

The course covers and assesses the Units of Competency: CUAPPM417 Create Storyboards, CUACAM211 Assist with Basic Camera Shoots, CUAPOS211 Perform Basic Vision and Sound Editing.

The course is delivered face to face 3 x 3-hour session per week for 8 weeks, plus additional time for study, homework and assessments


Statement of Attainment training in Write Content for Media [from CUA]

This training will give you the skills and knowledge required to write content for a range of purposes and platforms such as content for websites, social media, or for announcements on radio and television.

This training will also aim to build your understanding of creativity, how creative people think, and how creativity has been applied throughout history. It aims to provide individuals with inspiration and ideas to take into their own work and lives.

The course is delivered face to face 1 x 2-hour session per week for 9 weeks, plus additional time for study, homework and assessments
