Ranking and Bonus Points Information
ɬÀï·¬recognises that your success in the Bachelor of Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation) course depends on a strong foundation of relevant prior study and, in some cases, relevant vocational experience. For current Year 12 applicants, the subjects you have undertaken as part of your Year 12 course, and your academic performance in those subjects, will provide a strong indication of your ability to undertake study in forensic science at the undergraduate level. For Non-Year 12 applicants, in addition to your prior academic record, your work and other experience may also be relevant.
All applicants must meet the course entry requirements to be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation) course. Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of places available in the course, performance against the course selection criteria will be used to calculate an individual Selection Rank for each applicant; offers for a place in the course will then be made to applicants through UAC in rank order. Your individual Selection Rank will be calculated differently, depending on whether you are a current Year 12 applicant or a Non-Year 12 applicant.
Selection Ranks for Year 12 Applicants
For current Year 12 applicants, Selection Ranks are calculated based on the subjects you have undertaken as part of your year 12 course, and your academic performance in those subjects. Your ATAR is not used to determine your Selection Rank. You'll first be awarded a rank based on your performance against the course entry requirements - these are the criteria that you must meet to be eligible for admission to the course. You’ll then be awarded Bonus Points for entry if you have completed year 12 subjects which are relevant to the Bachelor of Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation) course of study. The better your academic performance in those subjects, the greater the number of Bonus Points you'll receive towards your Selection Rank.
For year 12 applicants applying for entry to the Bachelor of Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation) course in 2011, Bonus Points will be awarded for the following subjects. Only ACT and NSW subjects are included in the table below - for interstate subject equivalence, please contact UAC or the ɬÀï·¬Information Centre.
Note 1: Year 12 applicants completing Extension 1 or Extension 2 Mathematics as part of their Year 12 course in 2010 will receive only one Bonus Point allocation for these subjects, corresponding to their best academic performance. Bonus points for Mathematics, Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2 cannot be considered cumulatively. Year 12 applicants completing Extension 1 or Extension 2 English as part of their Year 12 course in 2010 will receive only one Bonus Point allocation for these subjects, corresponding to their best academic performance. Bonus points for English, English Extension 1 and English Extension 2 cannot be considered cumulatively.
Note 2: ACT Scaled Mark Equivalents as shown in the table are based on 2009 calculations, and are indicative only. These scores are reviewed yearly. Equivalent scaled marks for 2010 will be calculated by UAC at the finalisation of ACT and NSW Year 12 results in December 2010.
