ɬÀï·¬Fit & Well Allied Health Clinic official opening

Published: 30 Oct 2019

The official opening of the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) highly anticipated ɬÀï·¬Fit & Well Allied Health Clinic took place at ɬÀï·¬Bruce on Wednesday 30 October.

The state-of-the-art allied health simulated workplace environment is a new purpose-built facility within CIT’s health care and community services training hub.

The new facility will make an important contribution to the delivery of the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, particularly in the preparation of students to work as Allied Health Assistants in fields such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Social Work.

The new facility is equipped to support training and assessment across a range of other ɬÀï·¬courses including fitness, nursing, aged care, individual support and community work.

"A simulated workplace environment provides students with a realistic representation of the delivery of health services and exposure to real world situations that they will face following graduation," said ɬÀï·¬CEO Leanne Cover.

The facility is suited to offering services to the public, including physical activity based rehabilitation for older adults, therapy based sessions for school aged children and adolescents and healthy cooking and eating sessions. Various allied health programs will be run from this facility, complementing existing services delivered through the ɬÀï·¬Fit & Well Gym and Massage Clinic.
