The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is pleased to announce that 55 new nurses are ready to use their skills to support our community, having graduated from our Diploma in Nursing (HLT54115). This graduation is extra special for this cohort as 2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
As a final piece of advice to her graduates, Nursing Teacher Lisa Burling said: "Believe in yourself, don't be afraid to ask questions and enjoy your future nursing careers."
Lisa is proud of her students, especially given the COVID-19 restrictions that disrupted their training. "I hope they are proud of themselves as they have worked hard."
In order to meet social distancing guidelines, course theory was delivered online, while students were given allocated times in CIT’s simulated learning environment for practice and assessment of clinical skills.
The training provided by ɬÀï·¬has given graduates the skills needed to care for their patients. "ɬÀï·¬assists students to develop problem-solving skills vital to nursing. We ensure students are aware of the responsibility they hold to their patients and the community," Lisa said.
Nursing graduate Samjana Chhetri had been working as a Nursing Assistant in Aged Care and enjoyed her studies at ɬÀï·¬as she wanted to boost her career and become a fully-fledged nurse.
Another graduate, Jessica Homes, also enjoyed her time at CIT. "I was lucky to have teachers who really care about the quality of nurses entering the profession. The quality of education we got at ɬÀï·¬compared to other major education providers was really apparent."
Nursing graduate Dorji Wangdi said nursing is a great career if you're passionate about the wellbeing of others. "I think ɬÀï·¬is probably the best place to study nursing because of highly experienced teachers from the industry and the resourceful practical labs."
