COVID-19 Information

COVID Smart at CIT

ɬÀï·¬staff and students are no longer required to wear masks on campus, although ɬÀï·¬remains a mask-friendly environment.

It is a personal choice if you wish to wear a mask and if you choose to wear a mask you may do so at any time, you should follow the .

Other COVID smart measures are still in place. These include:

  • Practicing physical distancing by separating yourself from others by at least 1.5 meters where possible;
  • Practicing good hygiene;
  • Staying home if you feel unwell;
  • if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

  • Information for Students
    • If you test positive to COVID-19

      - If you are unwell or tested positive to COVID-19, please do not attend a ɬÀï·¬Campus;

      - If you test positive you are requested to not attend a ɬÀï·¬campus for 5 calendar days;

      - If you are a household contact you are requested to not attend a ɬÀï·¬campus where possible for 7 calendar days, where this is not possible additional risk mitigations must be in place in your workplace. Contact the ɬÀï·¬WHS team to discuss further controls;

      - Inform your teacher or head of department;

      - Follow ACT Health advice, including registering your positive result with ACT Health using this , or with the state/territory health authority where you are located;

      - If you have attended a ɬÀï·¬campus within your infectious period* or tested positive to COVID-19, inform your teacher or head of department and submit a Riskman report;

      * Your infectious period is the 2 days prior to testing positive for COVID-19, or the 2 days prior to your symptoms appearing - whichever happened first;

      - Wear a mask whenever you choose to.

      Other Support

      - The ɬÀï·¬Student Wellness Hub can be found in eLearn under 'Student Links'. It contains tip sheets and links to videos and audio to assist your wellbeing and mental health, along with links to information about coping during COVID.

      - The ɬÀï·¬Student Services team can answer your questions about courses or administrative matters. The team understands it might be a stressful time for some of you. They can help with enquiries about fees and debt, concessions and award applications.

      - The and its Student Assistance Officers can help you connect with Government agencies and other support arrangements due to COVID-19 along with financial options, employment and general enquiries.

      - The Training Initiatives Unit (TIU) looks after apprenticeship and traineeship arrangements at CIT. If your employment arrangements have changed, the TIU team is able to assist you to have your Australian Apprenticeship training contract updated. Additionally, TIU can direct you to appropriate support services available and assist with any apprenticeship-related queries, email CITApprenticeships@cit.edu.au.   • Information for Staff
    • ɬÀï·¬staff are required to follow requirements outlined in the including the .

      , including COVID-19 leave, are still in place to support you if you have COVID-19. COVID-19 leave may still apply if you are caring for someone with COVID-19 or are a household contact.

      You should , regardless of whether you have COVID-19 or another illness, to reduce the risk of transmission.

    • Mental Health and Wellbeing

      Living with COVID-19 is challenging, your responsibility to self-assess your risk and practice self-care, while being conscious of your contributions towards the broader public good is a balance.

      All ɬÀï·¬staff (both permanent and temporary) and immediate families are eligible to access the ACTPS’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for both work-related and non-work-related issues.

      EAP services are free of charge, available 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. Sessions are available for you and your family, all conversations are confidential.

    • What government support is available?

      The ACT Government is delivering a range of measures to support local business and industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit

    • Will the pandemic affect my training contract?

      Apprentices, trainees and employers should contact their relevant State Training Authority for information regarding their training contract.

      For advice on pay and entitlements for your apprentices during lockdown visit the Fair Work Australia website.       The Canberra Business Chambers offers advice and news for employers in the ACT region as the community responds to the COVID challenge. The Chamber also facilitates Canberra Buzz which allows business owners from across Canberra to collaborate and gain insights from fellow employers.
