Statement of Attainment Licence to Erect, Alter, and Dismantle Scaffolding

Overview

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding. You will receive training in scaffolding work that is undertaken in construction and other industries where temporary structures are erected, altered, and dismantled.

This course delivers training in basic and intermediate scaffolding.

Licensing Information 
Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) regulations.

The National Assessment Instrument (NAI) is the mandated assessment for the relevant licence as detailed in this unit.

Successful participants are required to lodge an application for a High Risk Work Licence with the regulatory body in the State/Territory they complete training in within 60 days from the issue date of the Statement of Attainment.

Regulatory Information
All workers on a construction site require a General Construction Induction Card (White Card).

Construction workers are required to complete the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work prior to starting work.

Duration:

Basic Scaffolding
Four weeks: 2 x 4-hour evenings per week. As well as 1 x additional full day. (40 hours or equivalent)

Intermediate Scaffolding
Four weeks: 2 x 4-hour evenings per week. As well as 1 x additional full day. (40 hours or equivalent)

You must also complete additional time in the workplace, undertaking various tasks related to scaffolding work. This time will vary depending on experience of the individual learner.

Enrolment fees for this course are based on the costs per subject as indicated below. Subject costs identified as Full Fee receive no government subsidy. Concessions are not available. The fees below apply unless training as an apprentice or trainee.

Additional Information

PPE
During training and assessment, participants must wear suitable PPE for working on a construction site, including at a minimum:
- high visibility clothing,
- safety boots,
- eye protection,
- hearing protection, and
- hard hat

ɬÀï·¬Logbook
You will be issued with a ɬÀï·¬logbook for the purpose of recording training time received on a work site and formal skills training at CIT. You will be required to submit your completed logbook before undertaking the Safe Work accredited national assessment.

Entry Requirements

This course has prerequisite requirements, the following units must be completed before enrolment into:
Intermediate level - CPCCLSF2001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level

Participants must:
- Be physically fit and able to work at heights.
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Have access to a workplace with the required equipment, our trainers can advise if your workplace is appropriate.
- Have English language skills to effectively communicate and work safely with others in the work area and to read and comprehend manufacturer's instructions and workplace procedures and safety signs. Participants must also be able to apply mathematical procedures for the estimation and measurement of loads. These skills will be checked prior to enrolment.

You will need to collect and retain confirmed evidence of any entry requirements if stated.

Skills Recognition

To study any course at ɬÀï·¬(excluding non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with the lower level course. Please visit Foundation Skills.

      Description: This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform basic scaffolding work. Scaffolding work involves erecting, altering or dismantling a temporary structure to support a platform from which a person or object could fall more than four metres.
