Statement of Attainment Height Safety

Overview

This statement of attainment is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights, and/or operate elevated work platforms (including scissor lifts) up to 11m.

One unit to achieve the statement of attainment, units may be undertaken as a stand-alone. You will receive a ɬÀï·¬competency card for each of the units that are successfully undertaken. Please contact ɬÀï·¬if you need more information prior to applying to this program.

Regulatory Information
All workers on a construction site require a General Construction Induction Card (White Card).

Construction workers are required to complete the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work prior to starting work.

Additional Information

PPE
During training and assessment, participants must wear suitable PPE for working on a construction site, including at a minimum:
- high visibility clothing,
- safety boots,
- eye protection,
- hearing protection, and
- hard hat

Entry Requirements

Participants must:
- Be physically fit and able to work at heights.
- Have English language skills to effectively communicate and work safely with others in the work area and to read and comprehend manufacturer's instructions and workplace procedures and safety signs. Participants must also be able to apply mathematical procedures for the estimation and measurement of loads. These skills will be checked prior to enrolment.

You will need to collect and retain confirmed evidence of any entry requirements if stated.

To study any course at ɬÀï·¬(excluding non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with the lower level course. Please visit Foundation Skills.

      Cost: Full fee $450.00
      Description: This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to operate specific types of elevated work platforms (EWPs) safely and effectively in different locations, including on uneven terrain. The unit includes locating, setting up, operating and shutting down scissor lifts and self-propelled boom lifts with a boom length under 11 metres. The unit supports construction workers in the safe and effective operation of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical EWPs. The unit does not cover truck-mounted EWPs, powered telescoping devices, hinged devices or articulated devices, or any combination of these used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated to perform work and which has a boom length of 11 metres or more. It applies to construction work on residential and commercial work sites in new construction, renovation or refurbishment, and maintenance projects. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit in some States. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

      Description: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries. It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes. Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit. Note: The terms Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the National Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements.
