Children at ɬÀï·¬Policy

1. Purpose

To ensure the safety of children of ɬÀï·¬staff and students and to ensure staff and students are not disadvantaged because of their caring responsibilities.


2. Scope

This policy applies to all ɬÀï·¬employees and students with parent/caring responsibilities.

This policy should be read in conjunction with the WHS procedure:


3. Principles

3.1 ɬÀï·¬will reasonably consider requests from staff and students to bring their child into the work and teaching environment and will balance the request with health and safety requirements of the area and the rights of others in the work environment.

3.2 ɬÀï·¬recognises that many staff have a range of needs when managing work, study and family responsibilities and there may be occasions when it is necessary to bring a child or children into the work and teaching environments at CIT.

3.3 Parents/carers are responsible for the supervision of their child/children at all times while at CIT.

3.3.1 Where conduct of a child/children of employees or students is considered unsafe, disruptive, or otherwise unacceptable, the matter should be managed according to the Resolving Staff Workplace Issues Policy or the Student Conduct Policy.

3.4 Parents/carer are responsible for the child's behaviour and safety and must always follow ɬÀï·¬requirements on restricted access and hazardous areas

3.5 Children under the supervision of their parent/carer can be at ɬÀï·¬in general community areas.

3.6 ɬÀï·¬will take all reasonably practicable steps to eliminate or effectively control hazards to children on ɬÀï·¬grounds and in accessible areas of ɬÀï·¬buildings.

3.7 ildren with an infectious disease are not permitted at ɬÀï·¬campuses at any time.
