This qualification reflects the role of a drainer, responsible for carrying out installation of below ground stormwater and sub-soil drainage systems, sanitary drainage systems, domestic treatment plants, on-site disposal systems and trench support, locating and clearing blockages and/or installing prefabricated inspection openings and chambers.

Duration:

1 day per week over 2 semesters (18 weeks per semester) face-to-face at ɬÀï·¬Fyshwick campus in addition to on-the-job training in the workplace.

Students will engage in up to 3 hours per week of independent learning in addition to attendance.

Clothing must meet industry requirement for workshop activities including leatherwork boots, long cotton workpants, clear lens safety glasses.

Entry Requirements

It is a requirement of this course that students are employed in the industry and assisting in drainage installations. Students need a letter of support from the employer confirming that they are employed in the industry and assisting with draining installations.

It is highly recommended that you have CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry before entering a construction worksite as well as a Statement of Attainment - Course in Asbestos Awareness 10675NAT.

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course.
