Overview

This course provides introductory knowledge and skills for cyber security in an organisation.

You will learn how to recognise threats, risks and vulnerabilities that affect networks, machines, applications, data, users, and infrastructure. Introduces the implementation of tools and systems an organisation can use to protect from cyber-attacks.

In addition, it also covers:

  • an introduction to common cyber security attack mechanisms
  • an introduction to identity and threat management
  • security issues surrounding Internet of Things (IOT) devices.
To achieve this statement of attainment鈥痽ou will need to complete the following unit:
  • VU23217 Recognise the need for cyber security in an organisation.

Duration:

 This short online course will take approximately six (6) weeks. You will be required to participate in (3-4) hours per week to complete this course. Delivery is online, as a self-paced series of lessons and activities, which you can complete at your own pace.

The total course cost may vary depending on the choice of elective subjects or if subjects are attempted more than once. Subject costs identified as Standard are partially subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible students.

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level course, or enrol in the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119) to develop your literacy skills.       Description: This unit describes the performance outcome, knowledge and skills required to recognise threats, risks and vulnerabilities to cyber security in an organisation. The threats to an organisation include networks, machines, applications, data, users and infrastructure. The unit addresses common cyber security attack mechanisms and an introduction to threat management as well as security issues surrounding Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The unit also includes the implementation of tools and systems an organisation can use for protection against cyber-attacks. This unit applies to individuals working as cyber security technicians either alone or as part of a team. No licensing or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of accreditation.
